Make rich, fudgy brownies with a creamy peanut butter ribbon on top. This easy recipe delivers decadent chocolate and peanut butter flavor in every slice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (120g) creamy peanut butter (for swirl)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Whisk in the eggs one at a time until incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix the batter.
  6. Spread half of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  7. Warm the 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter slightly so it is easier to spread. Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter over the batter layer.
  8. Spread the remaining brownie batter over the peanut butter layer.
  9. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the peanut butter layer into the chocolate batter to create a marbled effect.
  10. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the edge comes out with moist crumbs attached. The center should still look slightly underdone for a fudgy texture.
  11. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For the best fudgy texture, avoid baking longer than necessary. The brownies will set more as they cool.
  • If you want an even richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder in the brownie batter.
  • These brownies keep well stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days.
