Make this simple, creamy whipped feta dip using feta, Greek yogurt, lemon, and garlic. It is a quick, flavorful appetizer perfect for parties or serving with pita bread and vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces block feta cheese, drained
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat recommended for creaminess)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional topping: 1 tablespoon honey or hot honey
  • Optional garnish: Fresh herbs like dill or oregano, or chopped pistachios

Instructions

  1. Place the drained feta cheese, Greek yogurt, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, and black pepper into a food processor.
  2. Process the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Continue processing until the dip is completely smooth and airy.
  3. Taste the dip and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding a small splash more lemon juice for tang or pepper.
  4. Transfer the whipped feta dip to a shallow serving bowl. Use the back of a spoon to create a slight well in the center.
  5. Drizzle with extra olive oil. If using, drizzle honey or hot honey over the top. Garnish with fresh herbs or nuts.
  6. Serve immediately with warm pita bread, crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks. This is a great make ahead dip.

Notes

  • For the creamiest texture, use block feta packed in brine, not pre-crumbled feta.
  • If you do not have a food processor, you can use a high-powered blender, but you may need to add an extra teaspoon of olive oil to help it blend.
  • This dip tastes best when served at room temperature, so remove it from the refrigerator about 20 minutes before serving.
  • For a savory variation, blend in 1/4 cup of roasted red peppers or sun-dried tomatoes with the feta.
