Prepare quick and elegant smoked salmon toasts using a simple creamy dill spread, capers, and fresh chives on toasted sourdough.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pre-smoked salmon, sliced
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Toast the sourdough bread slices until golden brown and crisp. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, chopped capers, chopped chives, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Mix until fully combined and smooth.
  3. Season the cream cheese mixture with black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  4. Spread a generous layer of the creamy dill mixture onto each slice of toasted sourdough.
  5. Arrange slices of smoked salmon over the cream cheese spread on each toast.
  6. Garnish with a few extra chives or capers, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a low-carb option, serve the smoked salmon and dill spread over cucumber slices instead of toast.
  • If you do not have fresh dill, you can substitute with 1 teaspoon of dried dill, but fresh herbs provide better flavor.
  • This recipe works well for brunch, light lunches, or as an elegant appetizer.
