Make this simple, creamy whipped ricotta dip. It comes together fast and tastes decadent, perfect as a crowd-pleasing appetizer for parties or entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 15 ounces whole milk ricotta cheese, drained if very wet
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey, plus more for drizzling
  • Optional toppings: chopped pistachios, fresh herbs
  • For serving: crusty bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables

Instructions

  1. Place the drained ricotta cheese, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper into a food processor.
  2. Process the mixture for 1 to 2 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed, until the dip is completely smooth, light, and airy.
  3. Transfer the whipped ricotta dip to a shallow serving bowl.
  4. Drizzle the top generously with 2 tablespoons of hot honey.
  5. Add any optional toppings, like chopped pistachios or herbs, if you are using them.
  6. Serve immediately with crusty bread or crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • If you do not have a food processor, you can use a stand mixer with the whisk attachment or a hand mixer. Whip for 3 to 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Drain the ricotta for at least 30 minutes if it seems watery; this prevents a thin dip.
  • For a savory alternative to hot honey, try a drizzle of balsamic glaze and flaky sea salt.
