Make these soft, creamy orange cream cheese mints using simple ingredients. These no bake citrus sweets have a bright, zesty flavor and melt in your mouth, making them perfect for holidays or party favors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar (powdered sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Orange food coloring (optional)
  • Extra confectioners’ sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Combine the softened cream cheese, 4 cups of confectioners’ sugar, orange extract, orange zest, and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix the ingredients on low speed with an electric mixer until they are just combined. If the mixture seems too sticky to handle, add a little more confectioners’ sugar, one tablespoon at a time.
  3. If you want a brighter color, add one or two drops of orange food coloring and mix until the color is uniform.
  4. Place the dough in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes. This step makes the dough easier to handle and shape.
  5. Pour a layer of extra confectioners’ sugar onto a clean plate or baking sheet.
  6. Scoop out small amounts of the chilled dough, about one teaspoon each. Roll the dough between your palms into small balls.
  7. Roll each ball in the extra confectioners’ sugar until fully coated. You now have classic cream cheese mints.
  8. For a decorative touch, press each mint lightly with a fork or a small candy mold to create a pattern.
  9. Place the finished orange cream cheese mints on a parchment-lined tray.
  10. Refrigerate the mints for at least one hour to set before serving or storing.

Notes

  • You can substitute orange extract with 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract for a different flavor profile.
  • For elegant homemade mints, use small silicone candy molds instead of rolling them into balls. Press the dough firmly into the molds and then chill before carefully removing.
  • Store these melt in your mouth cream cheese candy pieces in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
