Make a comforting, warm Irish Coffee cocktail combining hot coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar, and topped with lightly whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz hot brewed coffee
  • 1.5 oz Irish whiskey
  • 2 tsp packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream, lightly whipped

Instructions

  1. Warm a clear glass mug or heatproof glass by filling it with hot water; let it sit for one minute, then discard the water.
  2. Add the brown sugar to the bottom of the warmed glass.
  3. Pour the hot coffee over the sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
  4. Add the Irish whiskey to the coffee mixture.
  5. Gently pour the lightly whipped heavy cream over the back of a spoon so that it floats on top of the coffee mixture.
  6. Serve immediately without stirring.

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed, strong coffee for the best flavor.
  • Whip the cream just until soft peaks form; it should be pourable, not stiff.
  • For a richer taste, use demerara or dark brown sugar.
