Make this bright red holiday margarita for a beautiful, simple cocktail. You can mix it for one serving or batch it in a pitcher for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz blanco tequila
  • 1 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz cranberry juice (100% juice preferred)
  • 1 oz pomegranate juice
  • Optional: Coarse salt or sugar for rim
  • Garnish: Fresh cranberries, pomegranate arils, rosemary sprigs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rim if desired: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass. Roll the rim in salt or sugar on a small plate.
  2. Combine the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, cranberry juice, and pomegranate juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake well until the shaker is very cold, about 15 seconds.
  4. Strain the mixture into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  5. Garnish with fresh cranberries, pomegranate arils, and a rosemary sprig for a festive look.
  6. For a pitcher: Multiply all liquid ingredients by the number of servings needed. Mix all ingredients in a pitcher, cover, and chill for up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, shake or stir individual portions with ice and pour into prepared glasses.

Notes

  • For a mocktail version, substitute the tequila and orange liqueur with equal parts sparkling water or white grape juice.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor in this recipe.
  • For a sweeter drink, increase the orange liqueur slightly or add 1/4 oz simple syrup to the shaker.
