Make this quick, flavorful, and low-carb P.F. Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps copycat recipe at home. This recipe uses ground chicken, water chestnuts, and a savory Asian sauce, ready in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup water chestnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 head butter lettuce, leaves separated and washed

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Break it up with a spoon and cook until browned completely. Drain off any excess fat.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and chicken broth.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken. Stir well to coat.
  7. Add the chopped water chestnuts and sliced green onions. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  8. Remove the skillet from the heat.
  9. Arrange the lettuce cups on a serving platter.
  10. Spoon the chicken filling into the center of each lettuce cup. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a keto chicken lettuce wraps version, check your hoisin sauce label for low-sugar options or use a sugar substitute.
  • Use large, crisp leaves like butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce for the best cup shape.
  • You can substitute ground turkey for ground chicken if desired.
