Ingredients
Scale
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk (or preferred liquid)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips, plus more for topping
1/4 cup sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
Place the softened cream cheese in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until the cream cheese is completely smooth and there are no lumps.
Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder to the cream cheese mixture. Mix on low speed until just combined.
Pour in the milk and vanilla extract. Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat until the dip is smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips using a spatula.
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Top with extra chocolate chips and sprinkles, if you are using them.
Serve immediately with your favorite dippers, or cover and chill for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to set.
Notes
You can heat-treat the cocoa powder and powdered sugar mixture in the microwave in 30-second intervals until it reaches 165°F to ensure safety, though this recipe relies on the absence of raw eggs.
For dipping, use graham crackers, pretzels, strawberries, apple slices, or vanilla wafers.
If you prefer a lighter texture, substitute 1 cup of the cream cheese with 1 cup of thawed, whipped topping (like Cool Whip) folded in at the end.
