Make flavorful, crispy shrimp quickly in your air fryer. This easy recipe is perfect for a fast weeknight dinner or an appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined (fresh or frozen and thawed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. If using frozen shrimp, thaw them completely and pat them very dry with paper towels. Dry shrimp are key for crispiness.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the dry shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced fresh garlic. Set aside.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  5. Place the seasoned shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 4 minutes.
  7. Open the basket, brush the tops of the shrimp lightly with half of the garlic butter mixture, and sprinkle evenly with half of the Parmesan cheese.
  8. Continue to air fry for another 2 to 4 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and cooked through and the coating is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove the shrimp from the air fryer. Toss them immediately with the remaining garlic butter and Parmesan cheese.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For the crispiest results, ensure your shrimp are completely dry before seasoning.
  • If you prefer a different flavor, substitute the Parmesan and garlic butter with 1 tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning mixed with the olive oil.
  • This recipe works well for making a quick appetizer or adding to pasta or salads for a simple dinner idea.
