Cook frozen shrimp directly in your air fryer for perfectly juicy, plump results with crispy edges in under 15 minutes. This no-thaw method is fast and simple for weeknight dinners or appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large frozen shrimp (peeled and deveined, tail on or off)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning or lemon pepper for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Place the frozen shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary for best crisping.
  2. Drizzle the olive oil over the frozen shrimp.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper (and any optional seasonings).
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning mix evenly over the shrimp in the air fryer basket. Toss gently with tongs to coat.
  5. Air fry at 380°F (195°C) for 8 minutes.
  6. Open the basket, shake well, and check the shrimp. If they are not fully pink and opaque, return them to the air fryer.
  7. Continue cooking for another 2 to 4 minutes, until the shrimp are cooked through and slightly curled. Total cook time is typically 10 to 12 minutes from frozen.
  8. Serve immediately with cocktail sauce, lemon wedges, or use in tacos or salads.

Notes

  • For frozen breaded shrimp, cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Do not add extra oil.
  • If you like a stronger garlic flavor, use 1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt instead of garlic powder and reduce the added salt.
  • For the juiciest results, avoid overcooking; shrimp cook very quickly once they turn pink.
